Description

SCOUT VOLUNTEERS @ C4R-FEST NORTH 2017

Cheshire Scouts are proud to have been associated with the C4R-FEST North event over the years, and we are already looking to build up a team for the event in 2017, in preparation of being invited back by the event organisers. If you are interested in joining the team of Scout volunteers at next year's event then register your interest here.

SCOUT VOLUNTEERS

We are currently looking for anyone who would be interested in joining the Scout volunteer team at C4R-FEST NORTH 2017. At the moment we are looking for anyone willing to volunteer over the full weekend, rather than for a single day. This entails working two 6-8 hour shifts over the three days of the event. A shift could start at anytime from 6am and finish at anytime up to 9pm. Volunteer shifts are usually working on the wristband exchanges, meeting and greeting the public as they first enter the festival; but could also include campsite and arena patrols and other jobs and duties as required over the weekend. Scout volunteers work alongside the festival volunteers (as we have done for the past two years), and the two groups work together as one great team to ensure that the festival visitors have the best time possible.

As in 2016 this opportunity is open to anyone within Cheshire Scouting aged 16 years upwards; in effect older Explorer Scouts, Scout Network members, Leaders, helpers, committee members and supporters. In return for "working" over the course of the festival, volunteers are offered: free entry to the event over the weekend (allowing you to enjoy the various attractions, cars and musical acts during your free time); a complimentary meal during each working shift (usually a good packed lunch); and the opportuntiy to camp for free at the event (volunteers camp together in a segregated area allowing good access to the showground itself). All that we ask is that you are freely available to work at least two shifts over the course of the weekend (usually this is broken down into a Friday shift and one other shift on either Saturday or Sunday).

This year we have also been asked to run a climbing wall activity during the event, so are looking for anyone with a climbing permit, or climbing experience, to help us to run the activity over the weekend - please let us know if you are interested in helping us to achieve this

SCOUT STAND

Every year we have been associated with the event we have kindly been allowed to have a small stand in the showground to help promote Scouting and possibly recruit any potential members and volunteers. For 2017 we are looking for a team of 6 volunteers to man and run the Scout stand over the course of the weekend (Friday to Sunday). The County will provide the branded tent and promotional materials, and we will be looking for the team of volunteers to plan, organise and run activities suitable for the event and promote Scouting to the thousands attending the event.

Volunteering on the Scout stand is open to any adult within Cheshire Scouting; in effect Scout Network members, Leaders, helpers, committee members and supporters. In return for running the stand over the weekend volunteers are offered: free entry to the event over the weekend (allowing you to enjoy the various attractions, cars and musical acts during your free time); a complimentary meal during each working shift (usually a good packed lunch); and the opportuntiy to camp for free at the event (volunteers camp together in a segregated area allowing good access to the showground itself).

WHAT IS C4R-FEST?

C4R-FEST is rapidly becoming one of the largest, family-friendly, festivals in the country - attracting a combined figure of nearly 100,000 visitors a year to the North and South events. To date C4R-FEST has raised over £7million for Children in Need. Offering a slightly more relaxed atmosphere than other festivals in the country, C4R-FEST offers camping, cars, food, fun and music to its thousands of visitors - you can usually find something to suit most people's taste.

FAQs

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

The age limit for Scout volunteers working at the event on wristband exchanges and campsites is 16+

The age limit for Scout volunteers working on the Scout stand is 18+

Can I bring children?

You can bring children with you, but they are not allowed to be with you when you are "working" a volunteer shift or on the Scout stand - so you would need to ensure there is adequate childcare in place when you are on duty.

You will also need to purchase the appropriate child ticket for the Festival (Child Day visitor or Child Weekend Camping) in advance for any children accompanying you.

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?

If you have any questions then please contact the Scout volunteer coordinator for the North event, Simon Appleton (simon.appleton@cheshirescouts.org.uk)
